Documentation Centre & Music Archive

More than thirty years of Palau’s existence and more than seventy-five of the Valencia Orchestra form a noteworthy historical background. In this section, you will find specialized information about the history of the building and the Orchestra; musical scores and methods from the beginning of the 19th Century; a music library; an audiovisual and photographic archive; press; programs; posters; artists autograph book; databases and all kinds of practical information for scholars and music lovers.

Scores

Among the more than 7000 scores preserved in the Musical Archive, there are a few manuscripts by Salvador Giner; dedicated scores by Maurice Ravel, López Chavarri or Magenti and first editions by Donizetti or Rossini.

Fons Antic

Singing and instrumental music method books of the early 19th century; vinyl records and 78s; hand programs of the early 20th century; autographs of Falla or Granados; photographs; batons ... are some of the jewels that can be seen in the Documentation Center of the Palau de la Música.

Arxiu Fotogràfic

More than 50,000 photographs that depict performances in the Palau de la Música of the great soloists and conductors who have appeared on its stage.

Artists autograph book

The autograph books of the Palau de la Música include the signature and dedication of the great musicians who have performed throughout these 30 years.

Posters

A collection of posters, from the inauguration of the Palau in 1987 to the present, shows us the evolution of the different programs and cycles throughout these years.

Programs

The Archive keeps programs of the Orchestra of Valencia since its foundation in 1943 and of all the concerts of the Palau de la Música since 1987, some of them with the handwritten autograph of its protagonists.
